Simple Bible Studies For Beginners
So please, pick up your bible and be prepared to make notes and observations. Be prepared to allow God to speak to you and believe that God will not mislead anyone. 2 Peter 3:9 teaches "The Lord is not slow about His promise, as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing for any to perish but for all to come to repentance".
Please always enter Bible Study with a prayer. Ask God to give you guidance and enlightenment. Ask God to reveal His truth, and pray that you will be honest enough in your heart to accept what God says. Pray for wisdom (James 1:5) so that you may be able to distinguish the truth from error and false doctrine. Pray that you will not be decieved (Gal 6:7) by the craftiness of men, but will place your trust only in God and His word. For some examples of good prayers, read the Psalms. See if you can capture the essense and attitude of the psalmist in your own prayers.
(NOTE: I am deeply indebted to my friend and Brother in the Lord, Derrel Shaw for the majority of the work in the Old Testament section. Bro. Shaw has been preaching for nearly fifty years. He along with the help of his wife Lois have compiled much information from many sources and their work will serve as the foundation of this study. I pray that God will continue to bless them for years to come. Sis. Shaw has virtually saved every sermon that Bro. Shaw has preached and has them all organized. As the apostle Paul described Phoebe as a servant and fellow-worker in the gospel, so Sis. Shaw serves in this great capacity. I have learned to respect and love them dearly. cs)
May God bless you as you study His word.
