I CUSS BECAUSE...
When I was growing up, you did not hear very many people using cuss words in their every day speech. There were very few curse words in movies, TV programs, and songs. All of this has changed now. I have even heard that there are youth ministers who cuss in front of the young people they serve and believe that they are not doing anything wrong.

It would be interesting to ask those who curse to finish this statement: "I cuss because..." Here are a few answers this to this question.
...because I can.
...to get attention.
...to show that I am tough.
...to make an emphasis on how I feel.
...to exert authority.
...to fit in.
...to display anger.
...to follow my examples.
...to instill fear.
...to get laughs.

There are probably many more reasons that could be set forth.

Those who cuss really need to understand that when they use their foul language, they are displaying:
Weakness
Ignorance
Foolishness
Unkindness
Sinfulness
A poor example
To express one's feelings with exactness and without cussing is not easy. However, those who can do it, make a much more positive impact on others than do those who curse.

"Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers" (Eph. 4:29).

"Let your speech be always with grace, seasoned with salt that ye may know how ye ought to answer every man" (Col. 4:6).

My friends, let's clean up the pollution that fills the air waves. Let's use words that are holy instead of ungodly. Let's use words that edify instead of tearing down. Let's use kind words instead of cuss words. Let's use words that season our speech instead of words that act like poison both in our lives and the lives of others.
