It's A Heart Problem
After some law enforcement officers were gunned down, I heard these words during
a news conference: "It's not a gun problem, it's a heart problem".
That is so very true. There has to be something wrong with a person willing
to kill others. These people demonstrate that they have hate in their hearts,
and animosity towards others. One thing is obvious; they do not have God in
their heart.
After several encounters between citizens and law enforcement officials, there
has been a growing tension between them. Some appear to take the law into their
own hands and take lives regardless of whether they know the facts or not. After
many have been killed, the conversation turned to race relations. Yes we have
racists in our country. We always have, and we always will. Because we pointed
out that racism comes from Satan, it is going to be there in people's hearts.
The only way to remove such racism is to change ones heart. Only God has the
solution to all our problems.
I said there was conversation, and I would imagine that most discussions end
up speaking past each other and yet they will all seek human wisdom and philosophy,
and the problem will continue.
Until one turns to God and starts living the way God wants them to live, the
problems will continue. The problem in this country is that everyone knows we
have a problem, and there is a solution to fix the problem, but they do not
want to face the solution. The solution is keeping God's commands. The solution
is to learn from the Bible what God requires of you. The solution is treating
others with fairness, honesty, integrity, respect, and love. Remember that God's
ways are higher than man's ways (Isaiah 55:9). Only God's ways provide a solution
to the problems in this country. And sadly, most will reject what God offers.
Jesus spoke of all the evil, lies, adulteries that come out of the mouth (Matthew
15:11,16-20). For what comes out of the mouth comes from the heart. And we are
not speaking of the blood pumping organ; we are speaking of the mind and what
is there.
Proverbs 3:5-6 reads: "Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and do not
lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and he will
make your paths straight". In verse 3-4 we read: "Do not let kindness
and truth leave you; Bind them around your neck, write them on the tablet of
your heart, so you will find favor and good repute in the sight of God and man".
This is what God commands. In verse 1 we read: "My son, do not forget my
teaching, but let your heart keep my commandments;". If people would do
this, things would improve greatly.
Yes, God has the answer, and it is up to each individual to choose whether they
will obey God and improve things or whether they will reject God and have to
live with the consequences. The consequences will result in eternal torment
in hell; it will result in chaos in our cities and streets; it will result in
wickedness being promoted and righteousness being ridiculed. Those who choose
to live with God will suffer at the hands of those who choose not to dwell with
God.
Let each of us resolve to live righteously and be a light unto others. Let us
guide souls out of darkness into the marvelous light of Jesus Christ.
