SENDING MIXED SIGNALS

We like to be given straight answers, don't we? We don't like mixed signals or the "runaround." You don't like to get two completely different answers from the same company about the same product. You don't like to get a notice from your Credit Card Company one day, telling you that your spending limit is increased, only to get a notice the next day threatening you if you don't send them money. Well, which is it? Am I a "valued customer" or a delinquent?

Society certainly sends out mixed and confusing signals. On the one hand, ads, television, movies, etc., want you to endulge yourself in all kinds of immoral activities. On the other hand, you're supposed to tone it down, watch out for AIDS and by all means make sure you don't drink while you're driving! Talk about mixed signals!

Our society may send a lot of conflicting messages, but the Bible does not. The Word of God tells us not to listen to our own desires but to follow God's ways. "Don't follow the lusts of the flesh but rather the fruit of the Spirit." "Don't take the broad path, take the narrow path." "Don't seek after man's treasure, whcih is temporary but after God's which is eternal." The Bible is refreshing, as it gives us a consistent message: We are sinners and we desparately need Jesus Christ. Then it reliably tells us how to be "in Christ" (Gal. 3:
26-28), where salvation is (2 Tim. 2:10).

Society usually has ulterior motives in its signals. God's motives revolve around His love for us. GOD'S SIGNALS ARE MEANT FOR OUR PROTECTION, CORRECTION, AND DIRECTION. Won't you follow Him in your life?
