We Have An Opportunity
Even though we make specific efforts for our gospel meetings, we must never forget that the opportunity to share the gospel is always near. Every day we wake up we face many opportunities. Every person you meet offers you a new opportunity. We must also realize that opportunity is not limited to evangelism. We have the opportunity to serve others. Such conduct captures their attention more than someone preaching to them. We should look for those in need and assist them anyway we can. Sometimes that involves money or that may involve doing something. If you do nothing more, you can ask them if they need assistance, or if they need to use your phone, or if they need a ride somewhere. Sure there will be times when it is not smart to get involved, but God gives us wisdom to determine those things. James 1:5 tells us that God will abundantly supply wisdom if we but ask.
Every prayer you pray to God offers you an opportunity to get involved in the lives of others. We just do not ask God to help someone and forget about them ourselves. We should pray all the time for God's assistance to do what God wants us to do. That means we are to look for opportunities to share God with others. We need to share Christ and His love with others.
Often, we do not take these opportunities because we are afraid. We are afraid of rejection. We are afraid of reprisal. We are afraid people will make fun of us and try to put us down. We are afraid that they might not want to be friends anymore. If that is the case, do you really need a friend that is not concerned with spiritual matters?
Every day, you have the opportunity to learn something about God. You can see God in the beauty or power of nature. You can see God in the good examples some give when they let their light shine. You can learn more about God from reading the Bible than you can looking up to the stars. The heavens declare the glory of God (Psalm 19:1). No other book on this planet can reveal God to us as He is to be revealed. And we cannot learn about God without learning His plans for us. Those plans were accomplished when Jesus died on the cross and then built His church.
We have so many opportunities every day to share Christ and God. We have opportunity to worship God in spirit and truth. We have opportunity to learn more about God.
So why do we not seize these opportunities? There is probably a very long list of reasons we do not do what we should, but who is brave enough to actually list them in the sight of God? We are without excuse, my friends. We ought to serve Christ, and others, every day that God has given to us.
