Over And Over And Over and Over Again

Did you ever notice in your years of experience that the best way to become good at something is to do it over and over again? This works in sports, as coaches drill the players over and over in the basics, so that hopefully, they will remember their training and work together to defeat the opponent. A good band director will have the band practice over and over to get to a level of excellence that will impress people and judges. Doing something on the job everyday over and over will eventually allow you to become good at what you do.
Did you ever wonder why the preacher keeps preaching the same things over and over? The answer is the same as the other scenarios. If we are going to be good Bible Students we need to study all of the Bible and concentrate on the areas which give us or someone else a problem. And we need to study over and over again.
An example of this is Baptism. Baptism is a once for all lifetime action we do as an act of obedience. In fact it is the only act of obedience recorded in the bible that we need to only do once. But many teachers of the doctrines of men teach that baptism is not essential for salvation, when the Bible clearly teaches this in several different passages. So we have to go over and over again the scriptures that teach on this subject. And so it is with many different doctrines of men.
Every time man teaches error, souls are going to be effected. They will either hold to the error, and lose their souls, or they will stand up for the truth, and be considered righteous before God.
Some people are enamored by their preacher and accept everthing he/she says without question. The Bible clearly teaches us to study for ourselves so that we can learn for ourselves what God wants from us. It is a foolish person that will put their trust in a man for their spiritual guidance. If this was a financial venture, would you put your trust in one man? Does Bernie Madoff mean any thing to you? Bernie Madoff success came as a result of greed by many people. A teacher of error is successful because he has learned to give people what they want to hear. The Bible says this very thing in 2 Timothy 4:3-4 "For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but wanting to have their ears tickled, they will accumulate for themselves teachers in accordance to their own desires; and will turn away their ears from the truth, and will turn aside to myths."
Don't let this happen to you. Study the Bible over and over again, and continue studying the Bible. You will become a good bible student, and you can help people find the truth along the way.
