Trust God
In our world today, there is a lot of misinformation. People tell us things that turn out to not be true. Even the news media puts a spin in one way or another. I remember seeing a video on Facebook three different times, and the storyline was different in each case. People are going to put a twist on anything if it advances their cause or fits the narrative that they want to champion. Every thug is a dear sweet child. Every policeman is a child killer. Every pastor is a sex offender. Every white person is racist, and every black person is on welfare. There is no end to the means a person will go to promote their ideals. For this to happen, lies need to be told. The purpose is to plant seeds of doubt upon a person's character. Do you remember when the speaker of the house mentioned that a presidential candidate had not paid his taxes in ten years? Of course, proof was offered that he did, but the damage was done. All people did was accuse him of being a tax dodger, in spite of the fact that the story was false. This just goes to show that people will believe what they want to believe because the truth does not matter to them.
Well, the truth does matter. The truth matters to God and is promoted in the Bible. "The entirety of Thy word is truth" (Psalm 119:160). Jesus prayed to God: "Thy word is truth"(John 17:17). The truth may not be what a lot of people want to hear and see, but it will always be right. We can rest assured that God has provided the truth. When Jesus promised the Holy Spirit to come as a helper and comforter, it was said that "He would be the Spirit of truth" (John 14:17).
We have a lot of disappointment in our world today. We get so used to things as they are now, we cannot function like we did before. When the electricity goes out, we are beside ourselves. Work comes to a sudden stop because we need the light to see and the power to operate our machines. We all have come to learn that if the internet is out, a lot of work stops. We depend on our cars to start every time, but when that does not happen, we are upset and about to be out a lot of money. We depend on so much today, but much of what we depend on is not really that important when it comes to our souls.
Getting and maintaining a relationship with God is the most important thing we can do. We do not have to depend on electricity or the internet or our cars to have this relationship. All we have to do is believe in Jesus and we can put our trust in God. The demonstration of true belief is obedience. Anyone can say they believe in God, but it is the evidence of their life which declares their allegiance. Those who claim to believe in God, yet live like all those in the world who do not believe in God are nothing but liars.
"If we say that we have no sin, we are deceiving ourselves, and the truth is not in us" (1 John 1:8).
God has proven Himself as one to trust. He is the one in which we are to put our trust. Jeremiah 17:7 reads: "Blessed is the man who trusts in the LORD, and whose trust is the LORD".
We can and should accept the fact that of everything this world has to offer; only God is the one who has not mislead you or lied to you. God has always been and will always be there for you. Please do not waste your time seeking truth from mankind, for you will be cursed (Jeremiah 17:5).
