VICTORY IN JESUS

Truly Jesus is our Savior forever! All who are obedient believers find victory in Jesus. The first day of the week is a triumphant day because it is the day that Jesus arose from the dead. The Lord's Supper is a remembrance of Christ's death that led to His glorious resurrection and victory over death, Hades and Satan. Jesus Christ became the Savior of the world -- "But take heart! I have overcome the world" (Jno. 16:33).

In the Supper of the Lord we remember that the Son of God came to the earth and gave His life for a world of sinners. He gave His life for each one of us that we might find forgiveness of our sins through the shedding of His blood -- Jesus said: "For this is My blood of the New Covenant, which is shed for many for the remission of sins" (Matt. 26:28). Sin brings death and death means separation from God, so all of us who have sinned need to overcome death and be reconciled to God our Father. That is exactly the victory that Jesus gives to all who believe in Him. Paul described death being swallowed up in victory as he wrote: "O Death, where is your sting? O Hades, where is your victory? ... But thanks be to God, Who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ" (1 Cor. 15:55-57).

The body of Christ is remembered as a sacrifice that brings victory over the flesh and corruption. The body perishes returning to the dust of the ground, but not so in Christ where the body is raised incorruptible and immortal. We partake of the bread knowing that Christ's body was buried and raised on the third day. Neither death, Hades nor the devil could hold Jesus in the grave. He arose! He had changed! Jesus has become Savior forever -- my Savior, your Savior, everyone's Savior if we are obedient believers. Paul wrote: "Yet in all things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us." He continues that he is persuaded that nothing can separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord (Rom. 8:37-39)!

Remember Christ's death in His Supper, but never forget that Christ's death means "victory in Jesus my Savior forever!" Death, Hades and Satan are forever conquered through the death of Christ our Savior and Redeemer!
