Power Over Satan
Take a moment to read 1 Corinthians 10:13.
Man is a free moral agent. This means man has a choice
between right and wrong. Our society as a whole seems
to go along with the concept of blaming someone else or
something else. Part of the problems is that we do not
demand accountability. When students shoot other students,
we hear that their rock music was the cause, but 30 million
kids listen to the same music, and they do not shoot their
classmates. People will blame guns for the murders, they
will blame poverty for the thieving, they will blame society
for the violence they do. Yet few want to blame the person
that actually committed the crime.
Well, the verse we read tells us that every opportunity to
sin gives us the choice. We choose to sin. That is what the
Bible says. We can’t blame the devil, neither can we blame
our parents, or anyone else. God will hold us accountable
for what we do (Ecclesiastes 12:13-14; 2 Corinthians 5:10)
God gives us the strength to resist temptation, so when we
give in, we can only blame ourselves. If we seek God and
His righteousness (Matthew 6:33) first in our lives, sin would
take a lower priority. “…Resist the devil and he will flee
from you “(James 4:7). Let us help you on your spiritual journey.
Believe in the Christ (Acts 8:37), Repent of your sins (Luke 13:3),
Confess Christ before all (Matthew 10:32), and be baptized for
your sins to be washed away (Acts 22:16), and then be faithful
unto death (Revelation 2:10).
May God bless you in your study of His word.
