God Is Our Refuge
A look at the protection that God provides for us.

Introduction
Where do we find safety?
Where do we find calm serene surroundings?
Where can we go where we are absolutely safe?
In our homes we feel safe.
But if someone breaks in, we become vulnerable and feel violated in some way and will probably never feel safe as long as we live there.

Many passages talk about God as being our refuge.
Psalm 90:1-2 “He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will abide in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say to the LORD, ‘My refuge and my fortress, my God in whom I trust”.
Let’s notice some other passages.

Deuteronomy 33:27 “The eternal God is thy refuge, and underneath are the everlasting arms: and he shall thrust out the enemy from before thee; and shall say, Destroy them”.
Do not trust in man. God is the only security you need.

Psalm 9:9 “The LORD also will be a refuge for the oppressed, a refuge in times of trouble”.
We need to trust in God to protect our souls.
We turn to God when in trouble.

Psalm 14:5-6 “There they are in great dread, for God is with the righteous generation. You would put to shame the counsel of the afflicted, but the LORD is his refuge”.
The righteous face troubles of all sorts, but they remember that God is with them.
And you cannot put to shame their protection, because it is the Lord Himself.

Psalm 46:1 “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble”.
V2 therefore we will not fear though the earth should change….
God gives us the strength of conviction to wholly put our trust in Him as our protector.
When do we have trouble?

Psalm 48:1-14
The beauty and glory of God’s city

Psalm 57:1-11
A prayer for rescue from persecutors.

Psalm 59:16-17
God is a stronghold of protection.

Psalm 61:1-4
God’s protection gives confidence.

Psalm 62:1-2; 5-8
God is a refuge from oppression

Psalm 71:1-7
Prayer of those who seek God’s protection.

Psalm 91:1-4
Security of the one who trust in God.

Psalm 94:22 “But the LORD has been my stronghold, and my God the rock of my refuge”.

Proverbs 14:26 “In the fear of the LORD there is strong confidence, and His children will have refuge”.
We learn in Proverbs so many benefits by having a fear of the LORD.
It is necessary for us to be able to trust God for our soul’s salvation.

Conclusion
God is a refuge
God is a stronghold
God is a fortress
God is a shield
God is our protector
All we have to do is to put our trust in Him.
How about you?
