JESUS

INTRO:

1. Jesus is depicted in many different ways in the Bible.

2. He is called by many different names which refer to his greatness.

3. We will refer to some of these different terms by which He is called.

A. For instance:

• The Lion of Judah.
• The Lamb of God.
• The Door to the Sheepfold.
• The True Vine.
• The Bread of Life.
• The Lily of the Valley.
• etc.

4. In this study, let us look at some terms by which He was called and bring them up acrostically by each letter of the name JESUS.

• JEW.....Esther 2:5 first mention. Lk. 23:3; Heb. 7:14.
• JEWEL.....Isa. 28:16; 1 Pet. 2:6.

• EMMANUEL....Mt. 1:23; isa. 7:14.
• ENDURANCE.....Psa. 72:17.
• EFFULGENCE.....Heb. 1:3; Rev. 22:16.
• ELECT OF GOD....Isa. 42:1; 1 Pet. 2:6.
• EXALTED....Acts 2:33; 5:31; Phil. 2:9.
• EXAMPLE...Jno. 13:15; 1 Pet. 2:21.
• EXPIATION....1 Jno. 2:2.

• SACRIFICE....Eph. 5:2; 1 Cor. 5:7
• SALVATION....Acts 4:;12; 2 Tim. 2:10.
• SAVIOR....Eph. 5:23; Jno. 4:42.
• SHEPHERD....Jno. 10:11; 1 Pet. 5:4; Heb. 13:20.

CONCLUSION:

1. All of these things should be helpful to us in our living the Christian life.

2. Erring child of God, do these things concerning Christ remind you of the error of your ways and make you want to come back to the Shepherd and Bishop of your soul?

3. Alien sinner, do you believe what has been said concerning Christ, if so, why don't you obey Him today?
