Pomeranians
Are not the dogs we are to beware.
(even though Pomeranians scare me.)

• Introduction
• Back during the time of the first century, people did not develop breeds of dogs and many dogs were not domesticated.
• Many dogs were wild animals and something to be feared.
• Jesus and the apostles used the terminology to describe some horrible people.
• As we look at the following verses we will see who this metaphor describes.

• Beware Of The Dogs
• Philippians 3:1-2 “Finally, my brethren, rejoice in the Lord,. To write the same things again is no trouble to me and it is a safeguard for you. Beware of the dogs, beware of the evil workers, beware of the false circumcision;”
• The apostle takes the term, "dogs", which was commonly used by the Jews to refer to the Gentiles, and uses it to describe a danger which was present in the false teaching being done by Jews.
• He uses a word which the Jews used in “disparagement” and applies it to them!
• How often do we hear Muslims referring to women and infidels as “dogs”.

• Beware Of The Dogs
• Matthew 7:6 “Do not give what is holy to dogs, and do not throw your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet, and turn and tear you to pieces”.
• A dog will not think twice about whether to bite you if it is nervous or scared.
• Jesus warns about giving Holy things to the dogs!
• Once you identify them, you must take warning and protect yourselves.

• Beware Of The Dogs
• Revelation 22:14 …”Blessed are they that wash their robes, that they may have the right to come to the tree of life, and may enter in by the gates into the city. 15 Without are the dogs, and the sorcerers, and the fornicators, and the murderers, and the idolaters, and every one that loveth and maketh a lie”.
• Outside of heaven is where the dogs will be.
• Of course we are not talking about canines.

• Let’s Describe The Dogs Of The Bible
• THE DOGS ARE THE ADVERSARIES OF THE TRUTH!
• The dogs, the evil workers, the concision (false circumcision) were those false teachers who sought to bind their traditions and Moses Law upon Christians.
• And it effected many brethren.
• Galatians 2:11 …But when Cephas came to Antioch, I resisted him to the face, because he stood condemned. 12 For before that certain came from James, he ate with the Gentiles; but when they came, he drew back and separated himself, fearing them that were of the circumcision. 13 And the rest of the Jews dissembled likewise with him; insomuch that even Barnabas was carried away with their dissimulation. works of the law shall no flesh be justified.

• Let’s Describe The Dogs Of The Bible
• Galatians 6:12 …As many as desire to make a fair show in the flesh, they compel you to be circumcised; only that they may not be persecuted for the cross of Christ. 13 For not even they who receive circumcision do themselves keep the law; but they desire to have you circumcised, that they may glory in your flesh.
• Such individuals are described as being deceivers and as the enemies of the cross of Christ...

• Let’s Describe The Dogs Of The Bible
• 2 John 9 …Whosoever goeth onward and abideth not in the teaching of Christ, hath not God: he that abideth in the teaching, the same hath both the Father and the Son. 10 If any one cometh unto you, and bringeth not this teaching, receive him not into your house, and give him no greeting: 11 for he that giveth him greeting partaketh in his evil works.
• 2 Corinthians 11:13 …For such men are false apostles, deceitful workers, fashioning themselves into apostles of Christ. 14 And no marvel; for even Satan fashioneth himself into an angel of light. 15 It is no great thing therefore if his ministers also fashion themselves as ministers of righteousness, whose end shall be according to their works.

• Let’s Describe The Dogs Of The Bible
• Philippians 3:18 …For many walk, of whom I told you often, and now tell you even weeping, that they are the enemies of the cross of Christ: 19 whose end is perdition, whose god is the belly, and whose glory is in their shame, who mind earthly things.
• 1. "Whose god is the belly…"
• Titus 1:10 …For there are many unruly men, vain talkers and deceivers, specially they of the circumcision, 11 whose mouths must be stopped; men who overthrow whole houses, teaching things which they ought not, for filthy lucre's sake.
• Romans 16:17 …Now I beseech you, brethren, mark them that are causing the divisions and occasions of stumbling, contrary to the doctrine which ye learned: and turn away from them. 18 For they that are such serve not our Lord Christ, but their own belly; and by their smooth and fair speech they beguile the hearts of the innocent.
• 2. "Whose glory is in their shame…"
• Ephesians 5:6 …Let no man deceive you with empty words: for because of these things cometh the wrath of God upon the sons of disobedience. 7 Be not ye therefore partakers with them….11 and have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather even reprove them; 12 for the things which are done by them in secret it is a shame even to speak of.
• 3. "Who mind earthly things…"
• Colossians 2:8 …Take heed lest there shall be any one that maketh spoil of you through his philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ:
• Ephesians 5:3 …But fornication, and all uncleanness, or covetousness, let it not even be named among you, as becometh saints; 4 nor filthiness, nor foolish talking, or jesting, which are not befitting: but rather giving of thanks. 5 For this ye know of a surety, that no fornicator, nor unclean person, nor covetous man, who is an idolater, hath any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and God.

• We Can Identify The Dogs
• WE MUST TAKE HEED TO THE SERIOUS AND SOBER WARNINGS ABOUT THE DANGER WHICH THESE INDIVIDUALS PRESENT!
• WE ARE ABLE TO RECOGNIZE THEM BY THEIR FRUITS...
• Matthew 7:15 …Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly are ravening wolves. 16 By their fruits ye shall know them.
• I Timothy 4:1 …But the Spirit saith expressly, that in later times some shall fall away from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits and doctrines of demons, 2 through the hypocrisy of men that speak lies, branded in their own conscience as with a hot iron;

• We Can Identify The Dogs
• WHEN WE DEVELOP ITCHING EARS, IT OPENS US UP AND MAKES US VULNERABLE FOR THESE INDIVIDUALS TO CONTROL OUR LIVES.
• 2 Timothy 4:1 …I charge thee in the sight of God, and of Christ Jesus, who shall judge the living and the dead, and by his appearing and his kingdom: 2 preach the word; be urgent in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort, with all longsuffering and teaching. 3 For the time will come when they will not endure the sound doctrine; but, having itching ears, will heap to themselves teachers after their own lusts; 4 and will turn away their ears from the truth, and (be turn(ed) aside unto fables.

• Different Kinds Of Dogs
• Dogs are a lot like people.
• If you do not know them, you just see them as you see everyone else.
• Yet as people have different personalities, so do dogs.
• Especially the dogs we are close to and treasure like members of our family.
• Like Fred (my dog cws).

• Different Kinds Of Dogs
• Some are friendly, and some are mean.
• Some are loving, and some are vicious.
• You cannot tell the difference by appearance alone.
• That is why Jesus said “you would know them by their fruits”.
• Some dogs devote themselves to their master.
• Some act like cats and ignore any and everyone.
• Some we need to beware of, and others we learn to be cautious around."

• Different Kinds Of Dogs
• Some are nothing more than SHOW DOGS.
• They get all fancied up and prance around showing off.
• You get the idea that they sometimes enjoy showing off for others.
• Jesus warned about show dogs when He described the Pharisees.
• He spoke of those who stood in the market place and made a big show of how pious they were (Matthew 6:1-5).

• Different Kinds Of Dogs
• Some are just ATTACK DOGS.
• These usually do not care one way or the other, but they do the bidding of another.
• These are those people who have not studied a matter, but if a certain person says that a matter is set in his/her mind, anyone who disagrees is subject to attack by the dogs.

• Different Kinds Of Dogs
• Some of the dogs are the PACK DOGS.
• These are some of the more dangerous dogs.
• They just go along to get along and have no real principles to live by.
• Whatever everyone else is doing is okay.
• If one dog attacks in a vicious manner, all the others will join in and they do not care who gets hurt.
• Proverbs speaks of those who run along with a crowd, and that usually turns out to be bad.
• Jesus spoke of the narrow path we should be on, but many will be on the broad path which leads to destruction.

• Conclusion
• There are probably many more categories we could use to describe different kinds of people.
• But hopefully we can see why the Bible refers to ungodly, wicked, evil, and perverse people as dogs.
• We must watch out for them and beware of their poison.
• We must guard ourselves from them.
• And we must guard others from them.
• So, beware the dogs (wicked people).
• And be nice to the dogs (animals).
