The Great Judge

(2 Chron.19:4-7)

Intro.

1. Problems with today's judicial system

a. corrupt judges

b. some "get off" becuase of connections or wealth

c. some falsely convicted because they are poor or a minority

2. Jehoshaphat's reform to bring "justice back to the land"

a. "Consider what you do; for you judge not for man, but for Jehovah; and He is with you in the judgment."

3. The selection of judges based on the perfect model, God.

a. no iniquity

b. no respect of persons

c. no taking of bribes

4. Characteristics of our judge.

I. "There is no iniquity with Jehovah our God"

A. Dt. 32:4 "For all His ways are justice"

B. Gen. 18:25 Abraham: "Shall not the judge of all the earth do right?"

C. Ps. 96:13; 97:2 the foundation of His throne

D. Ezek. 18:29 people claimed God was not just

E. Acts 17:30,31 He will judge the world in righteousness

II. "No Respect of Persons"

A. Dt. 10:17,18 "...regardeth not persons."

B. Rom. 2

C. Acts 10:34

D. Eph. 6:9; Col. 3:25; 1 Pet. 1:17

F. Some act as though they believe God will a special favor to them, "I just know God will save me."

III. "Nor Taking of Bribes"

A. The taking of bribes is a perversion of justice
