DID GOD REALLY MEAN THAT?

Deut. 11:26-28

Intro:

1. God's Word is true. Joh 17:17; Rom 3:4; Psalm 119:105

2. But God reserves the right to change his mind if circumstances change. Jonah 3:4, 8-10; Jer. 18:7-10

1. THOU SHALT NOT EAT OF IT.

1. The command was given. Gen. 2:15-17

2. They disobeyed God's command. Gen. 3:6

3. What did God do? Drove them from the garden. Gen. 3:23-24

2. I WILL DESTROY MAN.

1. The plan is revealed. Gen 6:5-7

2. The plan is executed. Gen 7:11, 23

3. A remnant was left. Gen. 6:14, 22; 7:1; 8:1

3. REMEMBER THE SABBATH DAY TO KEEP IT HOLY.

1. The command was given. Ex. 20:8

2. The command was disobeyed. Num.15:32;

3. What was God's punishment? Death! Num. 15:33-36

4. THOU SHALT NOT STEAL.

1. This was one of God's Laws. Ex. 20:15; Josh. 6:19

2. Achan neglected this law of God. Josh 7:21

3. Achan died (was stoned) for his disobedience. Josh. 7:25

5. CARRY THE ARK WITH STAVES.

1. God's plan was revealed and simple. Ex. 25:14

2. The command was not followed. 1 Chron. 13:7

3. What did God do? 1 Chron. 13:9-10; 15:1-2, 13, 15

6. MARRIAGE IS HONORABLE.

1. The fact is revealed. Heb. 13:4; 1 Cor. 7:2

2. He won't work, he beats me, he gets drunk. 1 Cor. 7:10

3. She won't cook, clean house, she uses drugs. 1 Cor. 7:11

4. What does God's Word teach about divorce? Matt. 19:9

7. MARK THEM WHICH CAUSE DIVISIONS.

1. The command was given. Rom. 16:17-18

2. This command must be obeyed. 1 Cor. 5:4-5; 2 Thess. 3:6

3. The purpose of this command. 1 Cor. 5:5

8. FEAR GOD.

1. King Solomon tells us to fear God. Eccl. 12:13

2. Cornelius feared God. Acts 10:2

3. Noah feared God. Heb. 11:7

4. We should all fear God and not man. Matt. 10:28

9. FAITH WITHOUT WORKS IS DEAD.

1. James makes this fact known. James 2:17, 24

2. The Devils have faith. James 2:19

3. It takes a working faith to save. Gal. 5:6; Phil. 2:12

4. Some try to be saved with a dead faith. James 2:26

10. BAPTISM DOTH ALSO NOW SAVE US.

1. A statement of fact. 1 Pet. 3:21

2. Baptism alone does not save. Mark 16:16

3. Repentance is also necessary. Acts 2:38

4. Confession is part of God's plan. Rom. 10:10; Acts 8:37

5. Scriptural baptism puts people INTO Christ. Gal. 3:27

6. Salvation is IN Christ. 2 Tim. 2:10

CONCLUSION:

1. Sinner, why not obey the gospel now. Heb. 3:15; 2 Cor. 6:2

2. Unfaithful, why not return to God. 1 John 1:9; Acts 8:22
