“No One Cares For My Soul”
• Is This True?
• Do You Care?

• Introduction
• You might consider this about yourself,
• And you might feel this way because it seems like nobody cares about you.
• But we might be wise to consider such if anyone else thinks this about us/you.
• How sad that anyone would be motivated to express themselves this way:

• Psalm 142:1-2
• “I cry aloud with my voice to the LORD; I make supplication with my voice to the LORD. I pour out my complaint before Him; I declare my trouble before Him. When my spirit was overwhelmed within me, Thou didst know my path,
• Psalm 142:3-4
• In the way where I walk they have hidden a trap for me. Look to the right and see; for there is no one who regards me; There is no escape for me; No one cares for my soul”.

• Psalm 142:3b-4 (CEV)
• “A trap has been hidden along my pathway. Even if you look, you won’t see anyone who cares enough to walk beside me. There is no place to hide, and no one who really cares”

• Nobody Cares
• Most of us, if not all of us, feel this way or have felt this way in the past.
• Our world is so cold and uncaring, and the reality sets in that nobody cares about me.
• While we may not know (thus care about) someone in another place, we must know there is a place where we should care and show that care by our actions.
• That place is in our world (or portion of the world that we inhabit and move about).

• Nobody Cares
• We sometimes hear stories about poor souls that perhaps die, and nobody cared about them.
• Like the homeless man given the name John Doe #171 in Los Angeles.
• Seems like he died near city hall. For three days he lay there. People walked by, and the grounds keeper just mowed around him and watered around him.
• He was not checked upon, until the smell was unbearable for those who walked by.

• Nobody Cares
• Or like a business woman who was very good at her job and knew many people.
• But when she was murdered, no one knew who to contact. None of her (supposed) friends knew who her parents or siblings were.
• Police found her diary in which she described herself as so lonely and that nobody cared whether she lived or died.

• Nobody Cares
• Are these not sad stories?
• There are many organizations today that make a showing of caring for others.
• But the reality is that as long as they get their money for doing this, their care is only superficial.
• We in the church are proud to boast that we care about souls.
• Do we really care about souls?

• Stepping On Toes
• When was the last time you shared your faith with someone who was not a Christian?
• When was the last time you assisted a fellow Christian with more than just financial aid?
• When was the last time we offered someone a shoulder to cry upon, an ear to listen, a mouth to comfort, and a hand for whatever assistance was needed?

• Do We Care?
• We gather together in the hope that we can help people get to heaven, do we not?
• Do we assemble with the saints to worship God, or are we saying to Him, “Hey, I showed up today…I need my points”
• Do we only speak of caring, or do we show it by our actions?
• The truth is that if you do not care about others, you will not get to go to heaven.

• Do We Care?
• The world only cares for people to the extent of what they can get out of it.
• Hospitals and doctors still rely upon the bottom line in making decisions. “Will there be any profit in it for me?”
• Government and politicians pretend to care, but they really don’t, they just want to keep their power.

• Where Did This Attitude Come From?
• It has always been here.
• In Genesis 4:9 we read: “Then the LORD said to Cain, ‘where is Abel your brother?’ And he said, ‘I do not know. Am I my brother’s keeper?’”
• I always wished that God would have replied: “Well, yes you are”. We all are.
• If people in our society really cared about each other, we would not have the civil unrest and moral problems we have now.

• Judgment Scene
• In Matthew 25:31-46
• v35: “For I was hungry, and you gave Me something to eat; I was thirsty, and you gave me drink; I was a stranger, and you invited Me in; naked, and you clothed Me; I was sick, and you visited Me; I was in prison, and you came to Me.”
• I don’t remember doing this to You, LORD.
• v40: “And the King will answer and say to them, ‘Truly I say to you, to the extent that you did it to one of these brothers of Mine, even the least of them, you did it to Me”.

• Judgment Scene
• The opposite actions are mentioned to those who did not care for others.
• The response was the same.
• v45 “Then He will answer them saying, ‘Truly I say to you, to the extent that you did not do it to one of the least of these, you did not do it to Me.”
• The point: How we treat others will be what we are judged about.

• What About Me?
• The truth is that there are many people out there struggling through life.
• If we are going to be the people God wants us to be, we should be able to see the need and act accordingly.
• 1 John 4:17 “But whoever has the world’s goods, and beholds his brother in need and closes his heart against him, how does the love of God abide in him?
• Honest and simple answer: It can’t.

• What About Me?
• I can choose to complain about my situation to God.
• I can choose to complain about my situation to others.
• Or I can learn to put my trust in God.
• 1 Peter 5:7 “casting all your anxiety upon Him, because He cares for you”.

• What About Me?
• Do I follow God’s instructions regarding my fellow man?
• Do I assist my fellow man in any way?
• Do I assist my brethren in any way?
• Do I have any concern at all over the plight of the suffering?
• God does not hold me responsible for those suffering in other places, but He does hold me accountable for those in my world where I am.

• Conclusion
• This lesson is necessary because we do not always care for others as we should.
• We should have such care so as to be willing to assist in any way to take care of the needs of others.
• True caring comes from the heart, and that is what God wants us to be.
• If we show true caring, those we help will recognize the beauty of Jesus in us.
• Do you care about my soul or the souls of others?
• If not, then you really do not care about your own soul.
