Telling People About God
Will You Not Tell It Today?
Psalm 66:16 “Come and hear, all who fear God, And I will tell of what He has done for my soul”
1 Chronicles 16:24 “Declare His glory among the nations, His wonders among all peoples.”
Psalm 22:22 “I will tell of Thy name to my brethren; In the midst of the assembly, I will praise Thee.”

Who Do We Tell?
We tell believers
We tell non-believers.

We have the help of all creation to tell about God and His works
Psalm 19:11 “The Heavens declare the glory of God; And the firmament shows His handiwork.”
Psalm 40:5 Thou hast multiplied, O LORD my God, Thy wondrous deeds and Thy thoughts toward us; none can compare with Thee! Were I to proclaim and tell of them, they would be more than can be numbered. (RSV)
Compare this with John 21:25 “And there are also many other things which Jesus did, which if they were written in detail, I suppose that even the world itself would not contain the books which were written.”

Why Should We Tell People About God?
Psalm 71:17-18 “O God, thou hast taught me from my youth: and hitherto have I declared Thy wondrous works. 18 Now also when I am old and gray-headed, O God, forsake me not; until I have shewed Thy strength unto this generation, and Thy power to everyone that is to come.” (KJV)

Why Should We Tell People About God?
Because of Thanksgiving
Psalm 73:28 “But it is good for me to draw near to God: I have put my trust in the Lord GOD, that I may declare all Thy works.” (KJV)
Psalm 75:1 “We give thanks to thee, O God; we give thanks; we call on Thy name and recount Thy wondrous deeds.” (RSV)

Why Should We Tell?

To teach others about God.
Psalm 75: 9 “But I will declare forever; I will sing praises to the God of Jacob.” (KJV)
Psalm 78:6 “That the generation to come might know them, even the children which should be born; who should arise and declare them to their children:” (KJV)
Psalm 96:3 “Tell of His glory among the nations, His wonderful deeds among all the peoples.” (NAS)

To show praise unto His name.
Psalm 92:2 “to declare Thy steadfast love in the morning, and Thy faithfulness by night,” (RSV)
Psalm 92:15 “To shew that the LORD is upright: He is my rock, and there is no unrighteousness in Him.” (KJV)
Psalm 118:17 “I shall not die, but live, and declare the works of the LORD.” (KJV)
Psalm 145:4 “One generation shall praise Thy works to another, and shall declare Thy mighty acts.” (KJV)
Psalm 145:6 “And men shall speak of the might of Thy terrible acts: and I will declare Thy greatness.” (KJV)

To cause others to honor God.
Isaiah 12:4 “And you will say in that day: "Give thanks to the LORD, call upon His name; make known His deeds among the nations, proclaim that his name is exalted.” (RSV)
Isaiah 12:5 "Sing praises to the LORD, for He has done gloriously; let this be known in all the earth.” (RSV)
Isaiah 21:6 “For thus hath the Lord said unto me, Go, set a watchman, let him declare what he seeth.” (KJV)

Because God challenges man if he can do what God is capable of doing.
God hopes to get man to consider who is worthy of praise and devotion.
Isaiah 41:22 “Let them bring them forth, and shew us what shall happen: let them shew the former things, what they be, that we may consider them, and know the latter end of them; or declare us things for to come.” (KJV)

Because God commands it.
Isaiah 58:1 “Cry loudly, do not hold back; raise your voice like a trumpet, and declare to My people their transgression, and to the house of Jacob their sins”.
Isaiah 61:1 “The Spirit of the LORD GOD is upon me, because the LORD has anointed me to bring good news to the afflicted; He has sent Me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to captives and freedom to prisoners; To proclaim the favorable year of the LORD and the day of vengeance of our God;”
Remember that this is the Passage that Jesus said was fulfilled in Himself.

To inform people what God wants them to do.
Jeremiah 42:4 “Then Jeremiah the prophet said unto them, I have heard you; behold, I will pray unto the LORD your God according to your words; and it shall come to pass, that whatsoever thing the LORD shall answer you, I will declare it unto you; I will keep nothing back from you.” (KJV)
Paul said it was his duty (and it is our duty as well.
Acts 20:27 “for I did not shrink from declaring to you the whole counsel of God.”

Because it is the reason we exist.
1 Peter 2:9 “But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for God’s own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of Him who has called you out of darkness and into His marvelous light;” (NAS)
1 John 1:2 and the life was manifested, and we have seen and bear witness and proclaim to you the eternal life, which was with the Father and was manifested to us– (3) what we have seen and heard we proclaim to you also that you also may have fellowship with us; and indeed our fellowship is with the Father, and with His Son Jesus Christ. (4) And these things we write, so that our joy may be made complete.

Will You Not Tell It Today?
If the name of the Savior is precious to you, If His care has been constant and tender and true, If the light of His presence has brightened your way, O will you not tell of your gladness today?

If your faith in the Savior has bro’t its reward, If a strength you have found in the strength of your Lord, If the hope of a rest in His palace is sweet, O will you not brother, the story repeat?

If the souls all around you are living in sin, If the Master has told you to bid them come in, If the sweet invitation they never have heard, O will you not tell them the cheer-bringing word?

Chorus: O will you not tell it today? Will you not tell it today? If the light of His presence has brightened your way, O will you not tell it today?

Conclusion
The words of that song really contain the message of this sermon.? Can we honestly sing this song and have no intention of sharing the greatest message to mankind?
Can we withhold anything from anyone and God still be pleased with us?
Are you willing and prepared to tell it today?
