Question. How many different protestant denominations are there? And, why do they disagree with each other so much?

Answer: There are literally thousands of denominations, and all come about because of a disagreement in doctrine. Since the Bible teaches only one doctrine, and since the Bible is the Truth (John 17:17), there is only one answer. Man is not willing to subject himself to the truth, and wishing to appease his own conscience, will invent his own doctrines, that pleases himself.

Read 2 Tim 4:3-4 to see that these men are self-pleasers.

Read 2 Thess 2:7-12 and see that Satan is the true agent behind these various doctrines. God allows those who do not appreciate the truth to actually believe error.

This is in violation of the plea for unity in 1 Cor 1:10 and Phil 2:1-4. If man would just study God's word (2 Tim 2:15) and live by it, and remove all the inventions of mankind, he would do well. Call Bible things by Bible names. Get rid of all denomination names and just go by CHRISTIAN. Get rid of all denominational doctrines, and accept the Bible only.

May you continue to study God's word. Let me help if you have further questions. (Carey Scott 6-1-2000 askme.com )
