• “CONSIDER YOUR WAYS”

• Introduction
• Webster defines the word “consider”
• To think about carefully
• To think about with regard to taking some action.
• To regard in a kind or attentive way.
• To come to judge or classify.
• Study, contemplate, think, ponder, weigh in your mind.
• Haggai 1:5 “Now therefore, thus says the LORD of hosts, ‘consider your ways’!”
• Repeated in verse 7.
• As we travel through life, there are many things which we need to consider.
• These are the most basic of questions.
• Who am I?
• What is my purpose?
• And many more.
• There are the things revealed in the Bible that we must also consider.
• Whether we make it to heaven will depend upon how much consideration we give these things, and whether we put into action the things that have been commanded of us.
• So, let us consider some things:

• Have you Considered:
• That you will die?
• Hebrews 9:27 “For it is appointed for man once to die, then after this the judgment”.
• That you will stand before God and be judged?
• Romans 14:10: 2 Corinthians 5:10; Ecclesiastes 12:14.

• Have you Considered:
• That you WILL confess JESUS AS LORD?
• Romans 14:11 “For it is written, ‘As I live says the LORD, every knee shall bow to Me, And every tongue shall confess Praise to God’.”
• The point of this verse is that God wants us to confess Jesus in this life.
• How sad for this to be the last thing you say before entering the eternity of torment.

• Have You Considered:
• That God has blessed us with the ability to know and understand His will?
• Ephesians 5:17 “So then do not be foolish, but understand what the will of the Lord is”.
• That is why it is important to study His word.
• 2 Timothy 2:15 “Be diligent to present yourself approved to God as a workman who does not need to be ashamed, handling accurately the word of truth”.

• Have You Considered:
• That there is only ONE church of Christ.
• Matthew 16:18 “And I also say to you that you are Peter; and upon this rock I will build My church; and the gates of Hades shall not overpower it”.
• Are all these other groups churches of Christ?
• Psalm 127:1 “Unless the LORD builds the house, they labor in vain who build it; Unless the LORD guards the city, the watchman keeps awake in vain”.

• Have You Considered:
• That Satan wants to keep you out of heaven?
• 1 Peter 5:8 “Be of sober spirit, be on the alert. Your adversary, the devil, prowls about like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour”.
• Satan does this through deception.
• 2 Corinthians 11:14 “And no wonder, for even Satan disguises himself as an angel of light”.

• Have You Considered:
• That your soul will end up where you decide it will be, and not where you want it to be?
• Our lives are revealed by the decisions we make and the paths we follow.
• If we are not following the Lord’s way, we are following our selfish ways,
• And that never benefits anyone’s soul.

• Have you Considered:
Your example just might help another soul decide whether to follow Jesus or not?
Yes, we are supposed to let our light shine according to Matthew 5:16.
But if we are not living according to God’s word, we might set an example that leads people down the wrong pathway, and a destination of Hell.

• Have you Considered:
• The great responsibility you have as a parent?
• Ephesians 6:4 “And fathers, do not provoke your children to anger; but bring them up in the discipline and instruction of the Lord”.
• Remember that children do as you do, and not as you say.
• Most people are products of their own environment, and are what they are because of what they have been exposed to.

• Have You Considered:
• That it is possible to be led astray?
• 1 Corinthians 10:12 “Therefore let him who thinks he stands take heed lest he fall”.
• Hebrews 2:1 “For this reason we must pay much closer attention to what we have heard, lest we drift away from it”
• Hebrews 3:12 “Take care, brethren, lest there should be in any one of you an evil, unbelieving heart, in falling away from the living God”.

• Have you Considered:
• That you are responsible for your own salvation?
• 2 Corinthians 13:5 “Test yourselves to see if you are in the faith; examine yourselves! Or do you not recognize this about yourselves, that Jesus Christ is in you—unless indeed you fail the test?
• Philippians 2:12 “So then, my beloved, just as you have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your salvation with fear and trembling”.

• Conclusion
• There are so many things for which we should consider and think about.
• Philippians 4:8 “Finally, brethren, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is of good repute, if there is any excellence and if anything worthy of praise, let your mind dwell on these things”.
• Where does your mind dwell?
